Better late than never

Ok first of all HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!! I'm kind of bummed because it doesn't feel like halloween...maybe because there isn't any snow on the ground. I grew up in freezing cold weather where every year I had to design a costume around a snowsuit. Ha. Well a few weeks ago we went over to the Lewis's and carved pumpkins. As I you know (because I've been complaining about it) my computer is not liking me too much these days so I haven't been able to post these pictures of our marvelous pumpkins. We had such a great time...oh and if you haven't heard Angie had her baby! Just goes to show how slow I am in the blog world! This was my first time (I'm just as shocked as you) that I've actually carved a pumpkin...we would do it at church activities but I always seemed to just draw a face or write my name or something lame like that. Anyway I did a very basic cat design, well to be honest because I really like cats and I just wasn't feeling very pumped up to challenge myself. David went above and beyond with the pumpkin head man....way to go Dave! I think they all turned out pretty well, oh yeah we also had some yummy pumpkin chocolate chip cookies to complete the night. Not too shabby.

Wide open spaces

Last week I had 3 days off from school...you got to love those, anyway my sister is having a baby like anyday so her friends and family in Arizona decided to throw her a babyshower. I was totally bummed because there was NO way that I could go...considering I live like 30+ hours away. Well it turned out that the babyshower was going to be during my little break and we managed to make it work for me to go visit my sister in Arizona (thanks mom and dad!) it was so much fun. My mom was also there to help with my sister so that made it even more fun to visit. I flew in on Wednesday and then came back late Saturday night. I have two extrememly cute neices and had a blast playing....and dancing....with them. I just loved being in an open space where I could see for more than 50 ft in front of me, don't get me wrong the trees are beautiful out here but seriously I sometimes feel trapped. When we lived in Arizona I would laugh at the locals for talking about their "mountains", being a Colorado girl I knew that those were not mountains! Anyway after living in Wisconsin for 5 months I was so excited to see the "mountains" in Arizona! Oh did I mention there was a Bajio in Arizona???? Yeah I made sure that we stopped by for lunch...thanks sis. Oh by the way the shower was a blast and she got some darling stuff, it was so nice to see everyone and just a fun and relaxing trip.

More Chicago pictures!

So here are the pictures from when Matt and Michelle came and stayed...yeah you know like a month ago! Anyway these pictures were taken in Chicago, you'll see the orange fountain....festive I know! Oh and there is a Picasso sculpture that he donated to the city, it was interesting because all these little rugrat kids were just crawling all over the sculpture.....IT'S A PICASSO!!!! Anyway most of the buildings have some cool story to them but I'll be honest I don't quite remember all of them. I guess you'll just have to come visit me and we'll go to Chicago and learn all about them! Anyway it was just nice to be with the Williams, oh also there is the picture of the giant bean....it's pretty trippy to look at from under, we had fun with it!

bummer

Well my computer thought it would be fun to NOT post pictures so I guess my pictures from last weekend will have to just wait. Also my computer still thinks it is a fun idea to have everything written in Russian-this was fun for like 2 days and now I just wish it would be normal. Anyway I'll have to blog another time.

24 hours and counting

Yep David will be back in Wisconsin in 24 hours and I CAN'T WAIT!!!! He has been hunting in Colorado with his dad since Thursday (I know that isn't that long of a time to be away from each other but I still really miss him). It has actually worked out great though because our friends Matt and Michelle have been staying with me since Thursday....I guess you could say they are "babysitting" me! They have been traveling all over since January and it worked out well for them to come to Wisconsin/Illinois this week. I told David to take the camera with him to Colorado and now I'm kind of wishing I would have had him leave it here for me. We went down to Chicago yesterday and saw some really interesting buildings and ate pizza and what not. Matthew took some awesome pictures that I'll have to post later. It's just been really nice having them here to visit. I've had such a fun and relaxing weekend the thought of waking up at 5:00 am for school just makes me sick! Oh well what do you do?

pumped up

A few days ago we were having a class discussion on the dangers of steroids. I thought it would be funny to show the class this picture and of course they loved it. I decided to take it one step further and say that it was a picture of me last Christmas. I always assume that people understand my jokes...I guess I was proved wrong when one boy asked "really??? so how did you lose all of the weight???" I just stood there shocked that he really thought this lady/man was me last year. I guess that extra trip to the gym is really paying off!

Becoming Mary Poppins

Well it has almost been a month that I have been teaching and that translates into a month that I have been carrying around hundreds of papers, binders, my lunch bag, water bottles, folders etc. Thankfully it was Kohl's associate day on Friday/Saturday and I found a purse (or minuture filing cabinet) %60 off the retail price. I was a little hesitant to buy it- considering it is bigger than I am- but made an executive decision that this would be the best option for me, which proved to be right. Today I was having a "not-so-good" day, it was raining cats and dogs and I didn't dare try to run through the rain with all these papers, folders etc etc, then all of the sudden I remembered that I would be able to run quickly from my car to the school due to my trusty new bag...pure happiness! Honestly though it really is WAY too big for me...I feel like Mary Poppins with it, maybe I could pull out a lamp, or a dresser...hum possibly a new piano, kitchen aid, sewing machine? I doubt I get that lucky! Hey if worse comes to worse I could always use it as a sleeping bag :)
