It's a birthday miracle!

Grant must have known it was my birthday today because he slept in until 9:00! Maybe he was afraid to see the crows feet on my old eyes now or something! It was cute to get him out of his crib and give me these huge smiles all day! It was a wonderful day with breakfast in bed, visits from friends, dinner with my boys etc. Yes I did make my own b-day cake but hey I got some really fun cake stuff for my b-day that I had to try out! Remember those cute cupcake measuring spoons??? Yep I'm the proud owner of those babies!

We've also been hanging out at different pools/lakes lately. Grant is still perfecting his Hulk Hogan moves!

Party like a rockstar!

Today was a whirlwind of a day. I ran the Strawberry Days 5k and then we hung around Cedarburg checking out all the little stands before the rush of people came. Grant did so well just chilling in his carseat. All good boys deserve something right???

Then this afternoon we went down to Chicago for the BMX Dew Tour. Our good friends Brandon and Chad were down there, their company was one of the sponsors. Brandon had some major hook-ups and let us hangout in the RV with some of the riders. It was interesting carrying Grant around with all of these guys-they were really fun with him though.

We had passes that allowed us up where they riders were during the finals and it was crazy to see them just standing right by us and then grab their bike and head off, then come back and act as if nothing had just happend. I overheard some of the camera crew saying to make way for one of the riders and as soon as I saw he was filming him for tv do you think I moved out of the way? And miss my moment of fame? Heck no. Anyway when we got home we watched it on tv and I'm totally famous now. I'll be signing autographs from 9-4 on Monday;)

Brainwashing

David wants Grant to play football, I want him to be a runner. Since I have the luxury of playing with Grant all day that also means I have the luxury of brainwashing him into my ways right??? Today was his first run in the stroller and if he thinks running entails sleeping while mom pushes you around in 90 degree weather...well bud you are in for a treat! I honestly could not believe he just snoozed the whole time...is this a sign that I'm not a fast runner? Probably. Let's just pretend that I'm light on my feet? Found a good path? Sounds good to me!

2 months

Grant is just growin' like a weed these days and is already 2 months old! He'll get his shots on Wednesday so hopefully he'll do okay...and I'll do okay. Anyway a few things about him...

*we often call him "Billy","Billy Bob", "Mr. Billson", (all from the bilirubin blanket)Pea Berry (long story), "Stinky Pete", "G money", "G nizzle"...we're working on actually calling him Grant
*this kid LOVES to be outside-getting the mail, opening the blinds whatever helps him to get/see out
*he loves his carseat and going on walks in the stroller
*he has started giving big smiles
*he sleeps about a 7-8 hour stretch, feeds, sleeps again another 3-4
*loves to be held...but not by the swing
*sadly he loves tv....I can't even claim that he gets that from David
*he tucks his thumb under his pointer finger like the whole "I got your nose" trick

We just love this lil' guy so much and have such a fun time together!

snakes and snails and puppy dog tails

We had a great day together as a family and also with friends. I love seeing David as a dad-he does such a great job of making Grant and I feel so loved! Grant has smiled (like a real smile) a few times for me and just as David was putting him to bed he finally gave him a big fat smile, it was the perfect way to end the day! I know everyone says their husband/father is the best and that probably is true but David and my dad/in-law are the best for me and my family, just the way it should be;)

Grant loves to be held by his daddy

Grant and mom being a little too "matchy matchy" for church. He does so well at church, despite the blow out today on my lap as I taught YW. He's lucky he's cute!

Not quite sure why he's pulling this "save me save me" face??? Is it so wrong that I just want to squeeze him all day??? Apparently he doesn't seem to like it!

what does dad do all day???

On Friday David came home for lunch and asked if Grant and I wanted to come watch his office participate in running races. Yes one would assume that when you work at the corporate level you would need to run reports, or run off a few copies of something but running races? Seriously? It all started when one co-worker thought he could beat another co-worker, which he did and then celebrated by lightin' up a ciggie......I have to admit the whole shabang was pretty entertaining. Did I mention he went to the Brewers game on Thursday for work? Hey whatever pays the bills;)

Grant getting ready...he can hardly contain himself right?

Trying to give a little smile...I'm pretty sure he had a messy diaper right after. hum...
